Job Description / Responsibilities:
1. PURPOSE
Responsible for managing and maintaining the telecommunication equipment's of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC). This role involves installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing various telecommunications systems to ensure effective communication across the Constabulary.

3. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Conducting regular inspections and audits of telecommunication systems to ensure functionality and compliance.
- Ensure effective Installation and configuration of telecommunication systems, and related equipment, ensuring they function effectively and efficiently.
- Accountable for troubleshooting and repairing telecommunications system malfunctions to ensure reliable operations and maintenance of telecommunication systems.
- Ensure to provide effective technical support/user support to members and end-users across the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
4. MAJOR DUTIES
- Installing and configuring telecommunications systems, including PABX (Private Branch Exchange) systems, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) equipment, and related hardware components.
- Setting up and testing telephone lines, ensuring proper connectivity and functionality.
- Conduct routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and reliability of telecommunications systems.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues with telecommunication systems and equipment.
- Provide report on telecommunication systems performance, issues encountered and measures implemented.
- Install and terminate indoor and outdoor telecommunication backbone cables.
- Monitor and ensure the security and reliability of telephone networks.
- Train end-users on the proper use of telecommunication systems and equipment.
5. NATURE AND SCOPE
The Telephone Technician works with the OIC Telephone and Chief Technical Officer to support the Director ICT to ensure effective operation of telecommunication system across the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing various telecommunications systems to ensure effective communication across the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.

5.1 WORKING RELATIONSHIP
(a) Internal
- Reports to Officer in Charge (OIC) Telephone
- Liaise with other designated officers concerning the role within ICT and across the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
(b) External
- Collaborate with telecommunication service providers, vendors for maintenance or technical support.
5.2 WORK ENVIRONMENT
Telephone Technician typically work in both office and fieldwork environments. Their job involves moving or travelling to different locations within the Constabulary to install, repair, or maintain telecommunications systems and equipment's.
