2. PURPOSE
- Supports and maintain physical changes to computer databases; and codes, tests, and implements physical database by performing the following duties.
- Implement database system requirements by defining and analyzing system problems; designing and testing standards and solutions.
- Provides detailed personal advice and guidance to all users in the effective use of Systems, products and services available to them; demonstrates ingenuity in applying knowledge to non-standard situations.
3. DIMENSIONS
- The position is responsible analyzing, designing and implementing computerized systems within DPM

4. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensure all computerizes applications, programs and database systems have accurate data for decision making.
- Immediate accountable to Senior Database Administration, Database Administration and subsequently Executive manager, Management Information Services Division.
- Effective managing Online Database Systems within DPM.
5. MAJOR DUTIES
- Monitoring system performance and identifying problems that arise.
- Responding in a timely manner to user-reported errors.
- Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access.
- Ensuring that the database is adequately backed up and able to be recovered in the event of memory loss.
- Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance.
- Suggesting changes and improvements for maintenance or protection.
- Regularly liaising with IT project managers and database programmers.
- Designing databases with both front-end and back-end users in mind.
6. NATURE AND SCOPE
- To Support and maintain internal Department’s Database Systems
6.1 WORKING RELATIONSHIP
(a) Internal
- Reports to Senior Database Administrator (SDBA), Manager-Database Administration and subsequently
- Other managers and line staff within the division and DPM
(b) External
- Supports Clients in Provincial Administration, Provincial Health Authority (PHA), Hospital

9. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
(a) Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
- Diploma in Computer Information Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or Networking Technology from an appropriately accredited institution
(b) Knowledge
- Database Security
- Software Design, Software Documentation,
- Software Testing, Software Maintenance,
- Software Development Process, Software Requirements,
- General Consulting Skills, Software Architecture
- Database Management and Data Maintenance
- Programming language; Oracle, SQL, PHP, Java, C, C++, C#, etc. (at least 3 programming language must be able to write and read.)
- Information Security Policies

- Critical thinking ability
- Strong problem-solving capacity
- High-level written and verbal communication skills
- Project management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of data modelling and data visualisation tools
