1. PURPOSE

 

Provision of effective and efficient security services to the departmental staff, buildings and other associated installations to ensure that the environment is safe and sound at all times.

2.  ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of departmental staff is maintained.
  • Ensure safe keeping of departmental properties and equipment.
  • Closely monitor movement of visitors and clients to and from the office premises.
  • Pre-screen visitors and clients to determine and confirm their personal identity. 

3. MAJOR DUTIES

3.1 Observe, monitor and man access controlled locations as scheduled.

3.2  Screen and assist clients with queries effectively and direct them to correct functional Divisions/Branches.

3.3  Assess the effectiveness of security system by monitoring application of security preventive measures and practices.

3.4 Provide static guard security coverage, mobile and foot patrol to premises, buildings and other associated facilities as required.

3.5 Enquire into and report all breaches of security and incidents occurring within the departmental premises.

3.6 Monitor, enforce and maintain vehicle discipline within Central Government Office carparks. 

3.7 Liaise with law enforcement agency, departmental staff and building tenants operating within the premises to ensure local knowledge is maintained and also to foster sound working relationship.

3.8  Notify immediate colleagues and relevant supervisors of any significant security incidents which arises during a shift.

3.9  Render First Aid as appropriate to all requiring assistance in medical emergencies within the premises if and where necessary.

3.10 Carryout other duties as directed in line with the above.

4. REPORTING AND WORK RELATIONSHIPS

(a)   Internal

  • Report directly to Security Supervisor

(b)   External

Establish and maintain reliable networks with other counterparts in other departments.

5. POSITION AND PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

 (a)   Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 10 certificate.
  • Previous security experience is essential.
  • Must possess at least class one (1) driver’s license.
  • Must have sober habits, reliable, honest, clean police record and be medically fit.

(b)   Knowledge

Must have a sound understanding of:

  • Security procedures and processes.
  • Departmental Internal Circular Instructions on internal control measures issued from time to time and Departmental Functional Roles and Responsibilities.
  • Radio and telephone Communication phrases and procedures. 

(c)   Skills

  • Interpersonal
  • Good Customer Services
  • Good Communication Skills (Oral and Written)

(d)   Work Experience

A minimum of five (5) work experience in the security industry in the Public/Private sectors.
