1. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.1 Ensure the arrangements for selection of Grade.11 students are completed by overseeing the raising of requisitions for travel arrangements for principals and secure venue for meeting, and
liaise with MSU for list of Grade.10 students who sat for the Grade.10 examinations.
1.2 Ensure qualified and experienced teachers are appointed to positions in NHS by assessing
applications and recommend teachers for appointment using merits selection process.
1.3 Oversee the completion of requisition forms for payments appointed teachers and selected
students travel to respective NHSs.
1.4 Coordinate scholarship awards (if any) for disadvantaged students.
1.5 Ensure all correspondences/documents from teachers are filed in the professional files to so as to maintain accurate and up to date files.
1.6 Coordinate the implementation of projects at Secondary schools by developing project proposals, project plans and supervise the implementation of projects to improve learning outcomes for students and teachers.
1.7 Ensure receipt of quarterly returns from schools for assessment and compilation for decision
making purposes
1.8 Ensure staff assists with the central sorting to ensure teachers are appointed to vacant positions
on time.
1.9 Take initiative and provide relief arrangement to work area to ensure the unit continuous to deliver services to clients.
2. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
2.1 Qualifications
2.1.1 Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education or Maters qualification in the related field is desirable.
2.2 Work Experience
2.2.1 5-10 years’ experience in a supervisory position at Deputy Principal / Principal in schools under National School of Excellence. Further experience in education administration is desirable.
2.3 Knowledge
2.3.1 Sound knowledge of the TSC and Education Acts
2.3.2 Excellent understating of the education system and its operation at both national and sub-national levels.
2.3.3 Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of effective administration and supervision.
2.3.4 Sound knowledge of report writing and write up of project proposals.
2.4 Skills
2.4.1 Manages tasks using planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
2.4.2 Considers deadlines and conflicting objectives in effective prioritization of tasks.
2.4.3 Provide effective supervision, project planning and management skills.
2.4.4 Able to evaluate, monitor and ensure consistent high quality of work outcomes.
