Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.1 Provide educational leadership for schools and principals by ensuring that FODE institutions and student performance are high, constantly improving, and address student and community needs.
1.2 Supervise and report on the performance of FODE institutions, consistent with the elements of development and accountability framework for public schools in the province.
1.3 Supervise and report on the appraisal and performance of teachers in the FODE institutions ensuring the accountability of site teachers in the process.
1.4 Monitor and report on essential data required by the Secretary for the effective and efficient management of the system.
1.5 Develop and maintain effective relationship with Schools Inspectors for Secondary and Elementary/Primary schools, teachers, school communities and other education stakeholders.
1.6 Manage effectively the operational resources provided to ensure effective service delivery.
1.7 Support the development and implementation of government policies and initiatives including the promotion of public education within the broad community.
1.8 Engage in focused and collaborative research activities that lead to improved educational practice and outcomes for FODE institutions.
1.9 Provide assistance and advice in the strategic development of policies concerning FODE.
1.10 Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and responsibility in programs, activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.

2. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
2.1 Qualification:
The minimum entry requirement for this position is a Bachelor degree or higher;
2.1.1 Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Teaching or relevant.
2.1.2 Post graduate or Master’s degree Education Leadership or related field is preferable.
2.2 Knowledge:
2.2.1 Sound knowledge of National and Provincial educational policies.
2.2.2 Sound knowledge of Public Service and Finance Management Act, the Education Act and the Teaching Services Act and other legislation as it applies to schooling.
2.3 Skills:
2.3.1 Solid computation skills
2.3.2 Proven Leadership skills
2.3.3 Problem solving skills
2.3.4 Good organizational skills
2.3.5 Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
2.3.6 Innovative strategic planning skills.
2.4 Experience:
2.4.1 5 – 8 years’ teaching background.
2.4.2 Proven experience in School Inspections.
