1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.2 Ensure that STEM teachers are properly compensated and must be well trained through department funded scholarships, short courses, workshops, in-services and other donor funded scholarships.
1.3 Ensure that teachers wishing to teach in NSoE must have a Master’s degree in a STEM-related discipline with pedagogic qualification and experience
1.4 Coordinate and ensure teachers must be adequately resourced to deliver course contents. Both pre-service and in-service programs must be introduced to ensure teachers have a firm grasp and command of the subject matter as well as to ensure teacher knowledge of the subject matter is harmonized through the various STEM schools. Some teacher’s aids can be provided through various available online resources.
1.5 Ensure qualified and experienced teachers are appointed to positions in NSoE by assessing applications and recommend teachers for appointment using merits selection process.
2. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
2.1.1 Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education.
2.2.1 5-10 years’ experience in a supervisory position at Deputy Principal / Principal at a NSoE. Further experience in education administration is desirable.
2.3.1 Sound knowledge of the TSC and Education Acts
2.3.2 Excellent understating of the education system and its operation at both national and sub-national levels.
2.3.3 Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of effective administration and supervision.
2.3.4 Sound knowledge of report writing and write up of project proposals.
2.4.1 Manages tasks using planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
2.4.2 Considers deadlines and conflicting objectives in effective prioritization of tasks.
2.4.3 Provide effective supervision, project planning and management skills.
2.4.4 Able to evaluate, monitor and ensure consistent high quality of work outcomes.
