Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.1 Research and prepare submissions in consultation with the Superintendent Early Childhood Teacher Training to SSM and TMT on alternate Early Childhood Teacher Education Curriculum to teacher trainees in the provinces to improve quality and standards of delivering initial early childhood teacher training.
1.2 Lead in the review, development and implementation of Early Childhood Teacher Education Curriculum policies and teacher training in the Provinces and PNGEI for currency.
1.3 Prepare and organize early childhood teacher education curriculum development workshops, plan costs and write reports to inform the Secretary on early childhood teacher education curriculum changes through the National Teacher Education Board of Studies.
1.4 Prepare annual management plan for early childhood teacher education curriculum development activities and report on progress of the completion or non-completion of the inspection activities and report to the NDoE budget review team via the Superintendent Early Childhood Teacher Education.
1.5 Prepare information papers in regards to elementary teacher education curriculum for submission to National Teacher Education Board of Studies.
1.6 Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and responsibility in programs, activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.

2. QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
2.1 Qualification:
2.1.1 Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
2.2 Experience:
2.2.1 (9-10) years or more with experience in Early Childhood Teacher Education at senior staff level either as a Elementary Unit manager at PNGEI or Provincial Early Childhood Education Coordinator.
2.2.2 Elementary Teacher Education Curriculum, office organization and management
2.3 Knowledge:
2.3.1 Conversant with Early Childhood, Primary Curriculum writing
2.3.2 Conversant in Early Childhood Teacher Education and must be competent in designing and conducting curriculum related research in regards to early children learning.
2.3.3 Thorough knowledge of Curriculum Design, Development, Assessment and Evaluation
2.4 Skills:
2.4.1 Organizational and Institutional management
2.4.2 Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer literate
2.4.3 Must have high level research skills to conduct and present findings (for example, into pressing issues that affect curriculum and content quality of learning in pre-schools)
2.4.4 Computer literate in MS word and Excel or MS Office applications.
2.4.5 Excellent inter-personal skills
2.5 Attitude (inclusion)
2.5.1 Must demonstrate acceptable positive and professional attitude from previous position occupied
