Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.1. In close consultation with the PCO Media supervise and guide TV and Radio Technicians in the effective operations of equipment for quality television and radio production through the following activities.

1.1.1. Create and maintain an effective equipment management and inventory control of all television and radio equipment. 

1.1.2. Carryout periodic inspection of all equipment and systems in the Media Centre to ensure the equipment are in working condition

1.1.3. Plan annual specialist service and maintenance schedule in consultation with production schedules to avoid production delays.

1.2. Plan for and conduct on the job training and workshops for officers as well as teachers in the following areas for enrichment purposes: 

1.2.1. General technical operations of specialist existing and new equipment.

1.2.2. Installation methods for TV antennas and dish.

1.2.3. Organize On-the-Job Training for all subordinate staff members

1.2.4. Identify enrichment courses for subordinate staff to increase efficiency and effectiveness at the work place.

1.3. Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and responsibility in programs, activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.

2. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

2.1. Qualification:

2.1.1.Diploma or Degree in electronic engineering specializing in radio and television engineering or relevant. 

2.2. Knowledge:

2.2.1. Broad technical knowledge and understanding of television and radio production systems.

2.2.2. Have knowledge of the Public Service Management Act, Public Service General Orders. Public Finance Management Acts and National Education Plan (NEP) 2022-2029.

2.2.3. Knowledge in production of TV and Multimedia programs.

2.2.4. Knowledge in educational media and ICT in PNG and other countries.

2.2.5. Knowledge in  NEMP, NEMP Strategic  Plan, ICT and other DoE Policies

2.3. Skills:

2.3.1. Ability to diagnose faults in professional radio and television equipment

2.3.2. Service and repair professional radio and television equipment and their installations

2.3.3. Proven administration and planning ability. 

2.3.4. Leadership skill  

2.3.5. Communication skills, both oral and written.

2.3.6. Computer literate.

2.4. Work Experience

2.4.1. Minimum of 8-10 years of similar experience with the department or other radio and television engineering establishment.
