1. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.1. Achieve the objectives of guidance and counseling services by regularly visiting schools to implement, assess and continuously improve the services that meet the needs of students and teachers.
1.2. Determine the aptitude of students to provide accurate advice to them by conducting the aptitude test in schools and support the schools based counselors to interpret test results.
1.3. Assist the school based counselors to provide basic counseling services to students by liaising with the supervisor to develop and implement basic counseling training programs.
1.4. Assist school leavers’ to make informed decisions on further studies or careers by providing relevant information on employment opportunities, further studies and scholarships.
1.5. Ensure the resources provided for implementation of programs are properly managed and used to support schools in benefiting from the guidance and counseling programs.
1.6. Support department’s information needs by providing relevant data that may be requested by divisions from time to time.
1.7. Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and responsibility in programs, activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.
2. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
2.1. Qualification:
2.1.1. Degree in Education or in Counselling.
2.1.2. Further training in guidance and counselling is preferable.
2.2. Experience:
2.2.1. 8 – 15 years’ teaching background.
2.2.2. Proven experience in Guidance and Counselling.
2.3. Knowledge:
2.3.1. The position requires:
2.3.2. A professional who is able to motivate, assist, lead, appraise and report on guidance and counselling officers.
2.3.3. An understanding of the factors influencing the effective and efficient management of the performance of schools guidance and counselling programs.
2.3.4. Sound understanding of Government priorities for schools as detailed in the NEP.
2.3.5. Sound knowledge of the Education Act, the Teaching Services Act, the Public Sector Finance Management Act and other legislation as applied to schooling.
2.4. Skills:
