Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.1. Assist in the implementation of relevant and practical staff Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) initiatives by gaining support from the executive and liaising with Building Management.

1.2. Assist in ensuring the working environment is safe and conducive for Department of Education (DoE) staff.

1.3. Liaise with the building management on any issues relating to Occupational Health & Safety matters.

1.4. Ensure efficient Occupational Health & Safety processes by assisting the officers in procedural activities when required.

1.5. Provide advice and report to the Occupational Health and Safety officer and other relevant management/authorities.

1.6. Develop Occupational Health and Safety systems, policies, procedures, manuals, and arrange for exercises and training.

1.7. Support a safe work environment by maintaining OSH administrative processes, conducting basic OSH training, and effectively using a range of OSH tools and processes to implement OSH programs and drive compliance.

1.8. Assist the senior Occupational Health & Safety Officer in identifying and assessing the risks from health hazards in the workplace.

1.10. Ensure the working environment is safe and conducive for DoE staff.

1.11. Liaise with the senior OHS officer and the building management on any issues relating to OHS related matters.

1.12. Ensure efficient OHS processes by assisting the officers in procedural activities when required.

1.13. Monitor factors in the work environment and working practices that may affect workers' health, such as sanitary installations, cafeterias, and housing provided by the employer.

1.14. Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom, and Responsibility in programs, activities, and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.

2. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, WORK EXPERIENCES

2.1. Qualifications

2.1.1. Relevant Degree in Human Resource Management, Education, or Administration.

2.2. Knowledge

2.2.1. Fair knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety principles and practices.

2.2.2. Ability to investigate, analyze issues, and provide accurate advice.

2.2.3. Ability to interact with officers at different levels of the organization.

2.2.4. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

2.2.5. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

2.2.6. Computer literate, especially in Microsoft Word.

2.3. Skills

2.3.1. Manage tasks using planning and organization skills to meet deadlines.

2.3.2. Ability to interact with officers both within and outside the department.

2.3.3. Ability to lead and build a successful team.

2.3.4. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

2.3.5. Ability to take initiatives in the work area.

2.3.6. Computer literate, especially in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

2.4. Work Experience

2.4.1. 3-6 years of supervisory experience in a similar role or in the human resource area.
