Designation : TECHNICAL OFFICER - INTERNET EDNET (Code- EDU25-01612)
1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.1 Assist in the planning, designing, testing and implementing of the operations of Education portals or intranet/Internet sites for teaching and learning in schools.
1.2 Ensure the operation of the internet and MoE portal/intranet is maintained efficiently by updating the pages the intranet and other application related services are maintained.
1.3 Ensure the support and development arrangements on all technology components of the websites and intranet/portal are implemented efficiently and effectively.
1.4 Assist Internet/Intranet users with training and access application.
1.5 Requires consultation with all stakeholders including ICT service providers in implementing ICT projects both as a services and or infrastructure through the branch or the Divisions.
1.6 Carry out other duties, consistent with the above.
1.7 Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and Responsibility in programs, Activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.
2. QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
2.1. Qualification:
2.1.1. Grade 12 level of education
2.1.2. Bachelor Degree in Information Communication & Technology or higher or show tertiary ability and experience to perform on the job.
2.1.3. Relevant qualification in Web development technologies plus, successful completion of industry based courses in PhP/HTML and CSS. Or Microsoft Sharepoint
2.1.4. Must be a member of a recognized Information Technology body, which may be acceptable to the Public Service.
2.2. Knowledge:
2.2.1. Have up to date knowledge of relevant information and standards of the Information and Communication Technology industry.
2.2.2. Relevant knowledge, information and standards of the Information and Communication Technology industry.
2.2.3. Ability to research solutions and document procedures.
2.3. Skills:
2.3.1. Must have good information and communication technology skills, and able to work with minimum supervision.
2.3.2. Assist to design, build, implement and maintain new websites or upgrade existing sites in line with specifications using a combination of programming techniques and web design software.
2.3.3. Assist in the construction of internets and extranets, web based networks accessible to employees or creation of web portals, links which open one site within another and allow end-users to personalize a content and structure, development of interactive information databases, building virtual learning environments (VLEs), and development of e-commerce facilities for the department and the institutions.
2.4. Experience:
2.4.1. Minimum of three (3) – five (5) years’ work experience in a similar environment of Information and Communication Technology.
2.4.2. Implementing portals/intranet. Internet, databases, web applications, interactive website development and management as an Information Technology professional.
