Designation : ASSISTANT SECRETARY - ICT INFRASTRUCTURE (Code- EDU25-01615)
1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.1. Responsible for the Information and Communication Technology within the branch by implementing plans, providing advice and delivering solutions for improving support and service.
1.2. Provide project coordination and management for Servers, Networking, Voice technology and security development and enhancements.
1.3. Develop and implement change management resource projects to support workplace changes driven by implementation of operational projects to meet business needs.
1.4. Contribute to successful team building by contributing and participating in team activities.
1.5. Supervise the efficient operations of the ICT Infrastructure branch.
1.6. Provide advice and solutions on server services, network, online infrastructure, Virtual machines, security and other infrastructure related issues.
1.7. Be responsible with other ICT Assistant Secretaries for the support and development arrangements on all technology components of ICT.
1.8. Ensure ICT services requests are properly prioritized, completed satisfactorily, on time and must be directed towards meeting a strategic goal of the organization or Government.
1.9. Suggest alternative technical solutions to meet the requirements more efficiently and/or with greater reusability.
1.10. Recommend together with other ICT Assistant Secretaries, training programs for staff in the division.
1.11. Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and Responsibility in programs, Activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.
2. QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
2.1. Qualification:
2.1.1. Grade 12 level of education
2.1.2. Bachelor Degree in Information Communication & Technology or higher or show tertiary ability and experience to perform on the job.
2.1.3. Relevant qualification in Server administration and Management, Network design and implementation, network and system security plus, successful completion of industry based courses in Cisco and other network certification and server administration.
2.1.4. Must be a member of a recognized Information Technology body, which may be acceptable to the Public Service.
2.2. Knowledge:
2.2.1. Ability to plan, manage and support Information and Communication Technology projects and policies for a large organization.
2.3. Skills:
2.3.1. Must have good information and communication technology skills with a good understanding of server administration and management, networking and security, and the ability to plan, organize and work with minimum supervision.
2.3.2. Must have strong Information Technology planning skills, management, and administration capabilities.
2.3.3. Design, build, implement and maintain new server and network infrastructure both on premises and online or enhance existing ICT infrastructure in line with specifications and best practices of modern network and server infrastructure and services,
2.3.4. Plan and develop ICT infrastructure which includes server, storage, security and networks that is accessible to employees and other stakeholders at national and subnational levels. Constructions of networks and server infrastructure that provides the platform and services for other ICT systEms to be accessed and used by end users.
2.3.5. Strong skills in Server and Storage, Network and Communication as well as security of networks and system in a large organization.
2.4. Experience:
2.4.1. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in all elements of Information and Communication Technology (i.e. computers, communications technologies and applications, servers and network and cyber security) as an ICT professional.
