Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.1 Check and sign-off salary related forms and HR information, authorize inputs and provide

first level auditing of information entered into Alesco.

1.2 Ensure all correspondence are completed within an agreed time frame by receiving and

promptly distribute correspondence to team members and promptly respond by writing or

communicate through telephone to teachers or PEOs.

1.3 Process payments for teachers retiring, resigning and deceased by verifying and

completing all separation documents and advise subordinates to process payments through Alesco.

1.4 Ensure that teachers ceasing employment are paid promptly by completing all separation

of employment documentation and ensure that calculation of termination payments are correct in accordance with agreed procedures.

1.5 Supply accurate weekly statistics for the unit to Process Analyst & Train Officers to

manage, collect and compile statistics of transactions undertaken within the team.

1.6 Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion principles and values of honesty,

accountability, respect, wisdom and responsibility in programs, activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.

2. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

2.1 Qualifications

2.1.1 Minimum Grade twelve (12) Education with Diploma/Degree in Human Resource or

possession of other Diploma/Degree qualification acceptable to the Department. Further

qualification in computerized payroll audit is preferable.

2.2 Knowledge

2.2.1 Extensive knowledge of the functions of the Alesco HRM system.

2.2.2 Broad knowledge of teachers’ Salary Determinations and terms and conditions of employment.

2.2.3 Knowledge of the relevant sections of the PSGO relating to salaries and entitlements of

administrative staff in provinces and head office.

2.2.4 Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of effective payroll audit and quality assurance.

2.4 Work Experience

2.4.1 Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a Senior Management role.

2.4.2 Extensive experience in conducting computerized quality assurance and payroll audit is preferable.
