Designation : SENIOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER (Code- EDU23-00804)

Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.1. Develop occupational health and safety systems, policies, procedures, manuals, and arrange for exercises and training.

1.2. Support a safe work environment by maintaining OSH administrative processes, conducting basic OSH training, and effectively using a range of OSH tools and processes to implement OSH programs and drive compliance.

1.3. Identify and assess the risks from health hazards in the workplace.

1.4. Ensure the implementation of relevant and practical staff occupational health & safety initiatives by gaining support from the executive and liaising with the Building Management.

1.5. Ensure the working environment is safe and conducive for DoE staff.

1.6. Liaise with the building management on any issues relating to OHS-related matters.

1.7. Ensure efficient OHS processes by assisting the officers in procedural activities when required.

1.8. Monitor factors in the work environment and working practices that may affect workers' health, such as sanitary installations, cafeterias, and housing provided by the employer.

1.9. Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom, and Responsibility in programs, activities, and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.

2. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, WORK EXPERIENCES

2.1. Qualifications

2.1.1. Relevant degree such as environmental health or occupational safety and health.

2.1.2. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

2.2. Knowledge

2.2.1. Knowledgeable about the OHS Act/policies and safety standards.

2.2.2. Environmental safety standards.

2.2.3. Occupational and emergency safety procedures.

2.2.4. Construction safety standards.

2.2.5. Labor and environmental laws.

2.2.6. Other safety-related issues.

2.2.7. Ability to investigate, analyze issues, and provide accurate advice.

2.2.8. Ability to interact with officers at different levels of the organization.

2.2.9. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

2.2.10. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

2.2.11. Computer literate, especially in Microsoft Word.

2.3. Skills

2.3.1. Manage tasks using planning and organization skills to meet deadlines.

2.3.2. Ability to interact with officers in and outside of the department.

2.3.3. Ability to lead and build a successful team.

2.3.4. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

2.3.5. Ability to take initiatives in the work area.

2.3.6. Computer literate, especially in Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

2.4. Work Experience

2.4.1. 3-6 years of supervisory experience in a similar role or in the human resources area.
