Designation : TECHNICAL OFFICER - STORAGE (Code- EDU23-00868)

Job Description / Responsibilities:

1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1.1. Implementing and supporting the operations of Server and Storage systems and services at the school level.

1.2. Assist schools on server and storage issues.

1.3. Assist to Document procedures for server and storage infrastructure services in schools

1.4. Assist to Conduct test and/or experiment the technologies before recommending for implementation at the school level

1.5. Assist server and storage services users at the schools with access to relevant network services where required.

1.6. Assist to Suggest alternative technical solutions to meet the requirements more efficiently and/or with greater reusability at the school level,

1.7. Carry out other duties, consistent with the above.

1.8. Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and Responsibility in programs, Activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.

2. QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

2.1. Qualification:

2.1.1. Grade 12 level of education

2.1.2. Diploma or preferably Bachelor Degree in Information Communication & Technology or higher or show tertiary ability and experience to perform on the job. 

2.1.3. Relevant qualification in Server, Storage, Cloud technology and security.

2.1.4. Relevant qualification in Server and Storage infrastructure designing, technologies plus successful completion of industry based courses in Window Server management and administration, Linux, VMware, and other Networking platform qualification, 

2.1.5. Preferably a member of a recognized Information Technology body, which may be acceptable to the Public Service is desired

2.2. Knowledge:

2.2.1. Have relevant and up to date knowledge of relevant information and standards of the Information and Communication Technology industry.

2.2.2. Ability to research solutions and document procedures.

2.2.3. ICT in Teaching learning

2.3. Skills:

2.3.1. Must have good information and communication technology skills, and able to work with minimum supervision.

2.3.2. Implement new Server and Storage infrastructure at the school level in line with specifications using best practices and current technologies platforms.

2.3.3. Maintain existing schools’ server and storage infrastructure and systems in line with specifications using best practice and current technologies and platforms.

2.3.4. Essential skills in server and storage as well as security of networks and system in a school environment.

2.4. Experience:

2.4.1. Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in a similar environment of Information and Communication Technology.

2.4.2. Implementing, administering and managing server and storage services as an Information Technology professional.
