Designation : SENIOR TECHNICAL OFFICER - NETWORK & COMMUNICATION (Code- EDU23-00861)
1. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.1 Planning, designing, testing and implementing network and communication infrastructure and services
1.2 Maintenance and support of the Department’s Network and communication including security
1.3 Assist the users on network and communication issues.
1.4 Document procedures for Network and services users on network related services.
1.5 Conduct test and/or experiment the technologies before recommending for implementation.
1.6 Assist network and communication account users with access to relevant network services where required.
1.7 Suggest alternative technical solutions to meet the requirements more efficiently and/or with greater reusability.
1.8 Recommend together with the branch Assistant Secretaries, training programs for staff in the unit.
1.9 Carry out other duties, consistent with the above.
1.10 Incorporate Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Principles and values of Honesty, Integrity, Accountability, Respect, Wisdom and Responsibility in programs, Activities and initiatives to foster positive work ethics.
2. QUALIFICATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
2.1. Qualification:
2.1.1. Grade 12 level of Education
2.1.2. Bachelor Degree in Information Communication & Technology, Computer Engineering or any IT related field or demonstrated skills in the relevant area.
2.1.3. Industry certifications in Networking, Communication, Cloud Technology and security
2.1.4. Relevant qualification in Network designing, technologies plus, successful completion of industry based courses in Cisco Networking, and other Networking platform qualification,
2.1.5. It is desirable be a member of recognized Information Technology body, which may be acceptable to the Public Service.
2.2. Knowledge:
2.2.1. Ability to research solutions and document procedures.
2.2.2. Have up to date knowledge on Information and Communication Technology standards and practices (Network and Communication based technologies) relevant for this position.
2.2.3. Ability to support network and communication including securiy services in a large organization.
2.3. Skills:
2.3.1. Must have good written and communication skills, and have the ability to plan, organize and work with minimum supervision.
2.3.2. Plan, Design, build, implement and maintain new Network and communication infrastructure and services or upgrade existing infrastructure and systems in line with specifications using best practice and current technologies and platforms.
2.3.3. Construction of networks, communication and security infrastructure that provides the platform and services for other ICT systems to be accessed and used by end users.
2.3.4. Strong skills in Network and Communication as well as security of networks and system in a large organization
2.4. Experience:
2.4.1. Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar environment, in design, development, implementations and management of complex networking and security.
2.4.2. Change management skills including but not limited to procedural documentation is desirable.
